Norwegian camera teams may have been swarming around Magnus Carlsen before his meeting with world number two Levon Aronian, but the serious chess spectators had eyes firmly fixed on the start of Kramnik-Topalov, where the feud that began in their acrimonious 2006 world title match has resulted in permanently frosty relations.

I heard a brief blurb on the radio saying that two chessplayers died in Norway, I presume at this event. Do you know anything about that?
Hi Dan
Yes, I know about it. One died in the playing hall! He had a heart attack – apparently, he had already heart problems and wasn’t young anymore – from the Seychelles- I think in his late 60’s. The other died late evening, something like 10:30 in his hotel room! I did follow up news reports up to 2 days after it happened, but. not again. So don’t know anything more about the second player. Both died a natural death. It was quite a big commotion in the playing hall. Good to see you around again!
The comment on the radio was that chess is the world’s most dangerous sport, as people die while playing it. LOL.
haha… funny
