Moo Moo

I used to collect cow-sculptures in South Africa …they were so cute, they didn’t look like this sculpture in this image, but this one is just as cute…cows are characters in many children’s stories/songs..and if you’ve forgotten about “Old MacDonald’s farm”… here’s the Youtube video to refresh your mind..hehe… and do you know the Children’s Classic…”Moomin”!…We used to have a cow on the farm — well, we actually had many, but “Makkie” was a special cow. She LOVED lemons! When we were around, she made her way to the nearest lemon tree – there were three near the kraal – and stood there mooing like mad! –Eilandkind, if you read here…congratulations on your birthday today!!!

Image: gimmecorn.com…this looks almost like our “Makkie” hehe..asking for lemons!

When I was little, we called these cows…foxterrier cows!! hehehe…

On this link they show you how to draw a cow…

This is one of my jars with cows…bought in South Africa…and brought with me all the way here! I love them, but couldn’t bring them all….wonder if you can still buy them in shops there!

Cattle dipping was great fun on the farm…those tiny little calves…were always so cute when swimming from the one end to the other!

Hi – as a fellow blogger I thought you might be interested in joining in on this weeks review. (go and look at a handful of random blogs and see what others have done with them. This is not reviewing the content, it is to look at the overall package, the attractiveness, the user friendliness of it.)

    http://examine-review-write.blogspot.com/2008/08/6-review-blog.html

Its often said that the only way you can improve is to keep practicing, keep learning and go and check out what others are doing, model excellent behaviour or techniques and.. keep practicing.. etc etc.

Its easy to fall in love with your own blog – the layout, the widgets, the look and feel of it. But is it really advertising you in the best light?

Who knows, you may find a co-writer to work on a project together or inspiration to change or modify yours.

hope to see your review next week.

Hi Annie…Welcome to my blog! And tks for the comments. I was a collector of owls too! Owls are such cute animals! Somewhere on my blog I’ve an entry about owls… I think I had more owl sculptures than cow sculptures! that was apart from my collection of dolls!
Tks for the link about reviews… i’ve checked it out. 😉
and I don’t think I’m going to change what I’m blogging about as I blog about what I like and what I find interesting, if other people don’t like it…there’s always a X to click on to go to another site… (that’s what Wipneus used to say and I agree 100% with her). I don’t blog to please other people, I please myself, as this is sort of a “hobby”…and if I practise a hobby, I practise what I like and not what other people like. I’m in that sense not a “follower”, but like to do my “own” thing.. I do blog about Chess…(because I love it and play it myself)……and anything/everything that interests me…as it says on my blog. It’s up to the reader to read or to “move on”. I don’t think I’m the right person to review other blogs…I think I will leave that one for those who “make a living” out of if. 😉

—there’s another short message for you to read further down too 😉

  4. on 06/08/2008 at 11:13 Wipneus!

Ek gaan nou in afrikaans skryf 😉
Ek stem, hierdie is jou stokperdjie. Ek persoonlik is mal oor jou blog!!

Ek verander my kombuis gereeld! Eerstens is my kombuis hoofsaaklik plaas kombuis. Ek sal jou laat weet as ek moeg raak daarvoor en weer verander. 😆

Hierdie week doen ek interior decorating in my huis.

  6. on 06/08/2008 at 13:43 reisiger

Ek verander ook gedurig my temas.

  7. on 06/08/2008 at 13:47 reisiger

  8. on 06/08/2008 at 13:49 Nikita

Hi Annie…I think if you click on this image link, that shows you that the Chess-info on my blog is enough/suits the needs for the people i “cater” for… and those visitor-info is not just chess players visiting the site for info..i’m not even an official blog-reporter about these World chess championships and i think i have sometimes a little more info than some of the official sites…i usually get half of that number of visitors or just a bit more…and that tells me too that other people enjoy what i’m doing and that I don’t need to “change”.. I don’t think you can try to change a style of someone, only perhaps if it is a commercial site…

Hi Reisiger!.. ja nee, ek gaan nou glad nie elke ou hier probeer please nie!
ek is MAL oor eende!! ek dink dis ‘n oulike tema… noudat jy hulle noem, ek het ook so ‘n paar eendjies in my versameling gehad…en my groot gunsteling natuurlik…TARENTALE!! ek VREK oor hulle… ek het ‘n groot tarentaal skildery gekoop toe ek by my tweede skool begin skoolhou het…hang nou in my sus se huis en het net verlede jaar ‘n foto geneem, sal sien of ek hom een of ander tyd kan blog…as ek onthou…

  9. on 06/08/2008 at 13:51 Nikita

Reisiger! ons boodskappe het so oor-en-weer gekruis! haha..ek sal gaan kyk watse werk jy my gegee het…jy weet…ek moet dit eintlik fluister…ek sit nog steeds in my nagklere hier! en ek het al 6vm vir Wipneus more gese op haar blogger-blog!! 😉

  10. on 06/08/2008 at 16:58 littleindian

After all these years, all these many years now I know why they were called the moomins.
Gosh the number of hours I had spent looking up dictionaries you will not believe. I feel a heartwrenching D’oh coming.

  11. on 06/08/2008 at 20:08 Eilandkind

Dit maak my sommer baie homesick. Daar is so ‘n swerm hier op die eiland, wat ek soms kan hoor in die laatmiddag, en dan trek my hart met ‘n punt Afrika toe.

  12. on 06/08/2008 at 22:03 Nikita

hi littleindian..the Moomins are almost like trolls and I think they’re supposed to be more like hippos…I’ve put them up here as they have the “moo”- in their word too… 😉

  13. on 08/08/2008 at 13:07 Braam

    Hi Nikita,
Sien jy hou ook van uile. Het jy al ooit die Uilhuis besoek?

  14. on 08/08/2008 at 18:46 Nikita

  15. on 09/08/2008 at 07:20 Braam

Uilhuis in Nieu Bethesda. Nonnetjie uil toevallig my gunsteling naas die naguiltjie.

  16. on 09/08/2008 at 07:40 Braam

  17. on 09/08/2008 at 09:31 Nikita

hi Braam!
