These are some of my children! These pictures were taken when we went on hols… they live in the spare bedroom at my sister’s house…the others were all packed away and at least I could say hello to these two dolls. Yes, I’m a dolly person…When I announced to the boys in my chess club on Wednesday that a girl is going to join us, Lewis, one of the boys, went crazy….”oh no! girls can’t play chess!” and I asked him why he says that…and he said..”but girls, you know, they like dolly-polly cutie stuff and all sorts of eensy-weensy- wrigglety-digglety-stuff!” I could just laugh and said but…hey…I’m a girl too and I play chess… he didn’t know what to say then and said…”yeah, the last time I had contact with a more mature girl who plays chess too, she told me she has got a huge knife collection!…and I saw that collection the other day!” … Now, because he saw her collection and she plays chess….does it make her a more “technical” person?… a more ”manly“-person? I was wondering… so I asked him why he thinks chess is a “boys”-game as there are some people in this world that do think it’s a game for boys…and he replied that he thinks chess is more a “technical”-game and that girls don’t like to do technical things…or play the technical games… Now more about the dolls… I started collecting them when I started my teaching career…this pixie was my second pixie. My first pixie has some purple clothing and she was bought at a show in Centurion, Pretoria… this baby doll was added much later to my collection. Her eyes look more blue on the photo than it really is…The pixie on this photo was bought from a lady in Lyttelton, Centurion. This lady and her husband were both retired people and that was their hobby, to make these beautiful dolls! I have a collection of about 15 dolls…three of them pixies and the other dolls different sizes.

Cute! Love dolls myself.
Hi the7new7ramanujan…glad you, as a male!, think it’s cute..
Hi Wipneus..wish i could have them all here…
