I’ve discovered this South African singer on the web… Jannie Moolman. I don’t know him….and was quite surprised by what I’ve found…opera singer too….he got rewarded third place in an international competition…the well-known Belvedere International song competition in Wenen.
Follow this LINK to read about him – in English – and to listen to some of his music.

With your posting about Gé Korsten I made the statement that I think we need an Afrikaans singer with original music like Gé, and I almost mentioned Jannie Moolman’s name. Maybe I held it against him a little bit that he performed Korsten’s music early on in his career. But he is good, very good. We saw a concert last year with him, Rina Hugo and Mathys Roets.
I have referred to his wife about twice on my blog, the first time was in my posting about Mathys Roets’ DVD “Vrydag die 13de”, in which she also performed. She is a well known violinist in her own right: Annake de Villiers, I hope to buy her solo CD soon.
Hi Kop…I thought too he’s quite good, would love to have a CD…think I will definitely order myself one!
Also, see my translation of Ge’s song…”Lied van die lewe”…comments please!
